about
“Better Now” carries a cinematic feel. “Find me a neverland, where we see no end” mirrors the common thoughts of our current generation internally stressing over issues like climate change and natural disaster and the effects that one day they might bring. The song takes a futuristic perspective, one maybe 20 or 30 years from now. In a post-apocalyptic world, a person looses someone close to them and is reflecting back on what once was.
lyrics
Find me a neverland
Where we see no end
Hold me and my hand
Sleep still while I can
Find us a neverland
We’re in it too deep
No lies to unwind
Had to leave those broken times
Things were far from right
But they’re better now
Remember that day
It all turned grey
And now there’s never going back
Sometimes I can’t pretend
That I’m better now
She was 17 when she looked at me
I doubt she knew what she was in for
Find me a neverland
Where we see no end
We’re in it too deep
No lies to unwind
Knowing that she’ll never come back
What’s buried in the ground
Can’t be better now
She was 17 when she looked at me
I doubt she knew what she was in for
She was 17 when she looked at me - oh no
I doubt she knew what she was in for
I doubt she knew what she was in for

Shoegaze ist die Kunst des Dröhnens, doch „Everything Is Alive“ setzt diese Elemente nur sparsam ein. Statt Hall- und Zerr-Sounds aufzutürmen, schäumt die Musik in feinen Bläschen über.
